Tezpur University is a central university at Napaam near Tezpur, Assam, with NAAC A+ and NIRF 2025 rank 79 among universities, offering B.Tech, B.Des, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, MA, M.Sc, LLM and PhD.

Tezpur University is a central university created by an Act of Parliament and functioning since 1994. Its campus is at Napaam in Sonitpur district, a short drive from Tezpur town on the north bank of the Brahmaputra. It runs B.Tech in civil, computer science, electrical, electronics, mechanical and food engineering, a B.Des, BA programmes and a B.Ed, along with integrated MA, M.Sc and M.Com courses. At postgraduate level it offers many M.Tech specialisations, M.Des, MCA, MBA, MA, M.Sc, M.Ed and LLM, plus PhD across science, engineering, humanities and law. Admission uses JEE Main and JoSAA for B.Tech, CUET for many programmes and its own TUEE test. The university holds a NAAC A+ grade and was ranked 79 among universities in NIRF 2025.

Admission

B.Tech seats are filled through JEE Main 2026, split between a North-East quota and JoSAA/CSAB. Most other UG and PG programmes take students through CUET and the university's own TUEE 2026, while MBA uses CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT or ATMA scores and M.Tech gives priority to GATE. PhD applicants qualify through NET, GATE, SET or TUEE. Applications are made online on the Samarth admission portal.

• Bachelor of Arts: Studying in: Class 12; any stream; universities set their own minimum marks
• Bachelor of Design: Studying in: Class 12; any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities); NID age limit - born on or after 1 July 2005 for General/GEN-EWS, 1 July 2002 for OBC-NCL/SC/ST, 1 July 2000 for PwD (2026-27)
• Bachelor of Education: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's and/or master's degree in a relevant discipline
• Bachelor of Technology: Studying in: Class 12; Must have studied: Physics; Must have studied: Mathematics; At least 45% marks in Class 12; one more subject from the AICTE list (e.g. Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology)
• Master of Arts: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; three- or four-year bachelor's degree; subject requirements vary (e.g. DU M.A. Economics needs Mathematics in Class 12 or 4 credits of Mathematics in the degree)
• Master of Business Administration: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline
• Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
• Master of Design: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in any discipline; final-year students may apply if they pass in the first attempt; NID age limit (2026-27) - born on or after 1 July 1994 for General/GEN-EWS, 1 July 1991 for OBC-NCL/SC/ST, 1 July 1989 for PwD
• Master of Laws: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; LL.B. or equivalent law degree; final-year LL.B. students may apply
• Master of Science: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in the relevant subject; two-year M.Sc after a three-year bachelor's or one-year M.Sc after a four-year bachelor's; universities set their own marks
• Master of Technology: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Technology; At least 50% marks in UG; B.E./B.Tech in a relevant discipline; GATE score preferred
• Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
