About Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is a residential technical university near Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, set up under a 1999 state Act.
SMVDU was created by an Act of the J&K State Legislature in 1999 and started teaching in August 2004. Its 470-acre residential campus lies in the Trikuta Hills near Katra, about 40 km from Jammu. It is funded by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the J&K Government. Schools cover engineering, architecture and landscape design, sciences, management, humanities and law, with B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Des, four-year UG, MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc, MA and PhD programmes.

Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Merit, Interview, Lateral
Applicants register on the university's Samarth admission portal. B.Tech seats are linked to JoSAA/CSAB counselling, B.Arch uses JEE Main or NATA, M.Tech uses GATE through CCMT and M.Sc uses CCMN, with GAT-B for M.Sc Biotechnology. Four-year UG programmes fill seats from merit lists, and diploma holders can join B.Tech or B.Arch in the second year.
