About Manipur University
Manipur University at Canchipur, Imphal is a central university founded in 1980 that runs MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, LLM, B.Ed and PhD programmes across seven schools.
Manipur University was set up on 5 June 1980 under the Manipur University Act and became a central university in October 2005. Its campus is on the Indo-Myanmar Road at Canchipur in Imphal. Teaching is organised into schools of education, humanities, human and environmental sciences, life sciences, mathematical and physical sciences, and social sciences, plus the Manipur Institute of Technology and the Manipur Institute of Management Studies. Programmes include MA and M.Sc in many subjects, M.Com, MBA, MCA, LLM, B.Ed, integrated and vocational courses, and PhD research in more than thirty departments. Most PG seats are filled through CUET, with separate non-CUET rounds for some programmes.

Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Interview
Two-year PG admission for 2026-27 is based on CUET (PG) 2026 scores, with registration on the Manipur University Samarth CUET portal; UG seats use CUET (UG). Separate non-CUET applications are taken on the university admission portal for UG, PG and integrated programmes, and some departments use the Manipur University Entrance Test (MUET). PhD admission is run by each department through entrance tests, interviews or NET as notified.

- Bachelor of Education: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's and/or master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Master of Arts: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; three- or four-year bachelor's degree; subject requirements vary (e.g. DU M.A. Economics needs Mathematics in Class 12 or 4 credits of Mathematics in the degree)
- Master of Business Administration: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline
- Master of Commerce: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; B.Com (Hons/Pass) or equivalent such as BBA, BMS or BBE (University of Delhi)
- Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
- Master of Laws: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; LL.B. or equivalent law degree; final-year LL.B. students may apply
- Master of Science: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in the relevant subject; two-year M.Sc after a three-year bachelor's or one-year M.Sc after a four-year bachelor's; universities set their own marks
- Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
