Nootan Medical College and Research Centre started in 2019 as part of Sankalchand Patel University at Visnagar. Its teaching hospital grew from Sardar Hospital, opened in 1989, and the on-campus Nootan General Hospital, opened in 2015. The college admits 200 students to the five and a half year MBBS. Postgraduate seats are offered in MD pathology, anaesthesiology, radio-diagnosis, general medicine, paediatrics, microbiology and more, and in MS general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology and orthopaedics. It also runs one-year certificate courses in dialysis, X-ray and operation theatre work.
