Gyan Chand Jain Commerce College was started in 1972 in Chaibasa, the headquarters of West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand. It is named after Sri Gyan Chand Jain, a local social worker and businessman who also gave the land for the campus of about seven acres, roughly two kilometres from the main town. Today the college is a constituent unit of Kolhan University. It focuses on commerce and business studies: the B.Com in honours and programme forms, the four-year B.Com under the new FYUGP system, a three-year BBA and a two-year M.Com. The college also runs an NSS unit and publishes admission notices and merit lists on its website.
