What does a Electrical Engineer do?
Electrical Engineers apply science and maths to generating, transmitting and using electric power and electrical equipment. Most enter the profession through a B.Tech, while polytechnic diploma holders often start in junior engineer roles and can join B.Tech in the second year through lateral entry.
An electrical engineer designs wiring and power systems, tests motors and transformers, plans maintenance and makes sure installations meet safety rules.
In India electrical engineers work in power utilities, renewable energy projects, railways and metro systems, factories and electrical contracting firms.
