Akal Degree College was established in 1964 beside Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib on the Sangrur-Barnala road and is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. It is privately managed and sits on a campus of about ten acres with separate hostels for boys and girls. Undergraduates can study BA, B.Sc medical and non-medical, B.Com, BBA, BCA and B.Voc programmes, and postgraduates can take MA in several subjects, M.Com, M.Sc IT or a PGDCA. The college also runs a diploma in agriculture and has a library, labs, a gym, an auditorium and a training and placement cell.

Admission
Admission through: Merit, Interview
Admissions usually open in May and June as per the Punjabi University calendar. Students submit the form with documents, and merit lists are drawn from qualifying-exam marks. BBA and BCA may include an aptitude test or interview. Selected students attend counselling, verify documents and pay fees.
