About Central Sanskrit University

Central Sanskrit University, headquartered in Janakpuri, New Delhi, runs Sanskrit-based UG, PG, teacher education and doctoral courses across its campuses.

Central Sanskrit University, earlier known as the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, traces its start to 1970 and is now listed among India’s central universities. Its headquarters is at Janakpuri in New Delhi, and it teaches through campuses in several states, such as Devprayag in Uttarakhand and Guruvayoor in Kerala. Courses follow the traditional Sanskrit names: Shastri at the bachelor’s level, Acharya at the master’s level, Shiksha Shastri (B.Ed) and Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed) in teacher education, and Vidya Varidhi for the PhD. It also runs an integrated teacher education programme, an LLB (Hons) in Bhartiya jurisprudence, and school-level Prathama and Purva Madhyama courses. Admission is mostly through CUET, and campuses offer hostels and libraries.
