The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) was set up in 1930 under the Servants of India Society and was given deemed university status in 1993. It is located at Shivajinagar, Deccan, in Pune. The institute focuses on economics: it runs a four-year B.Sc (Economics) and a B.Sc Economics (Data Science) with an apprenticeship component, and two-year M.Sc Economics programmes with options in financial, agri-business, international business, population and health, public policy and geo-political economics. It also offers an M.A. Economics, a regular PhD and an executive PhD for working professionals. The institute reports that it was re-accredited by NAAC in 2025.
