About Kannur University
Kannur University is a Kerala state university set up by Act 22 of 1996, based at Thavakkara in Kannur and serving colleges in Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts.
Kannur University began as Malabar University through a Governor’s Ordinance in November 1995 and was then established by Act 22 of 1996 of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Its head office is at Thavakkara, Civil Station P.O., in Kannur town. It is the affiliating university for colleges in Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts of north Kerala. Across its system it lists BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, BSW and travel and tourism degrees at UG level, and MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, MSW and journalism degrees at PG level. It also runs private registration for distance learners.

Admission
Admissions are handled through the university's online admissions portal, which carries notifications for UG and PG programmes. PG admission hall tickets are issued online, and students who cannot attend regular classes can apply for private registration through the distance education site.

- Master of Arts: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; three- or four-year bachelor's degree; subject requirements vary (e.g. DU M.A. Economics needs Mathematics in Class 12 or 4 credits of Mathematics in the degree)
- Master of Business Administration: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline
- Master of Commerce: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; B.Com (Hons/Pass) or equivalent such as BBA, BMS or BBE (University of Delhi)
- Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
