Akkamahadevi Women’s University at Torvi, Vijayapura, is Karnataka’s state women’s university, running master’s and PhD programmes since 2003.
Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University began its first academic session in 2003 and has its campus, Jnanashakti, at Torvi in Vijayapura district. It is a university for women students. Its master’s and research programmes cover sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, languages including Kannada, English, Hindi and Urdu, and social sciences such as Economics, Sociology and Women Studies. Professional courses include an MBA, an MCA, Commerce, Journalism and Education. It also plans to start Green Architecture and Landscape Design.
