About Tripura University
Tripura University is a central university at Suryamaninagar, about 9 km from Agartala, offering MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, M.Pharm, LLM, BBA, B.Ed and PhD programmes.
Tripura University grew out of a Calcutta University postgraduate centre set up in 1976, became a state university under the Tripura University Act in 1987 and was made a central university on 2 July 2007. Its campus is at Suryamaninagar, roughly 9 km south of Agartala. Departments span biological and natural sciences, engineering and technology, languages, social sciences, performing arts, commerce, law, management and education. Postgraduate courses include MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech in several branches, M.Pharm and LLM, while undergraduate options include BBA, B.Ed, B.Voc and five-year integrated master’s degrees. PhD is offered in 41 subjects. Admission is mainly through CUET scores, and fees for 2025-26 range from about ₹8,300 a year for MA to about ₹77,800 a year for MBA.

Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Merit
UG, integrated and PG seats are filled on the basis of CUET (UG) and CUET (PG) scores conducted by NTA. After the results, candidates register on the Tripura University Samarth admission portal, and the university publishes merit lists and holds counselling, with fees paid online. Seats left vacant may be filled by merit or by a university entrance test, and some programmes run a separate non-CUET admission notice.

- Bachelor of Education: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's and/or master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Master of Arts: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; three- or four-year bachelor's degree; subject requirements vary (e.g. DU M.A. Economics needs Mathematics in Class 12 or 4 credits of Mathematics in the degree)
- Master of Business Administration: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline
- Master of Commerce: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; B.Com (Hons/Pass) or equivalent such as BBA, BMS or BBE (University of Delhi)
- Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
- Master of Laws: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; LL.B. or equivalent law degree; final-year LL.B. students may apply
- Master of Pharmacy: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Pharmacy; At least 55% marks in UG; B.Pharm from a PCI-approved institution; registration with the State Pharmacy Council (required by JSS AHER within one month of admission)
- Master of Science: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in the relevant subject; two-year M.Sc after a three-year bachelor's or one-year M.Sc after a four-year bachelor's; universities set their own marks
- Master of Technology: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Technology; At least 50% marks in UG; B.E./B.Tech in a relevant discipline; GATE score preferred
