About Uttarakhand Open University
Uttarakhand Open University is the state open university in Haldwani, set up in 2005, running low-cost distance UG and PG programmes such as BA, B.Com, BBA, MBA and MCA.
Uttarakhand Open University was created in 2005 by an Act of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and is based in Haldwani, Nainital district. It teaches through self-learning material and study centres, with university exams. Programmes include BA, B.Sc, B.Com and BBA at UG level and MA, M.Com, M.Sc, MBA and MCA at PG level, besides diplomas and certificates. Fees are charged per semester and are modest: for the July 2026 session, the BA costs ₹4,000 for the first semester and the MBA ₹12,050.

Admission
Admission through: Direct, Entrance test
Admission is online only, through the university portal at online.uou.ac.in, for new and continuing learners. Applicants must enter a correct ABC ID and DEB ID, or the admission can be cancelled. Most programmes take direct admission on eligibility; a few, such as BA (Yoga), need a university entrance test. For the July 2026 session the last date was extended to 13 October 2026.

- Bachelor of Business Administration: Studying in: Class 12; any stream; universities set their own minimum marks
- Bachelor of Commerce: Studying in: Class 12; any stream; universities set their own minimum marks and may ask for Mathematics or Accountancy
- Bachelor of Science: Studying in: Class 12; Science stream usually required; universities set subject and minimum mark rules
- Master of Arts: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; three- or four-year bachelor's degree; subject requirements vary (e.g. DU M.A. Economics needs Mathematics in Class 12 or 4 credits of Mathematics in the degree)
- Master of Business Administration: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline
- Master of Commerce: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; B.Com (Hons/Pass) or equivalent such as BBA, BMS or BBE (University of Delhi)
- Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
- Master of Science: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in the relevant subject; two-year M.Sc after a three-year bachelor's or one-year M.Sc after a four-year bachelor's; universities set their own marks
