The Department of Law is a teaching department on the main campus of Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana, and was set up in 1978. It aims to train students for practice at the bar, for judicial service examinations and for legal research. The five-year BA LLB (Hons.) and the three-year LLB (Hons.) each have 120 seats, while the two-year LLM runs in two shifts with specialisations such as criminal, corporate and constitutional law. Research students can register for a PhD in law. Admission to every course is through an MDU entrance test, and fees follow the university schedule, which is lower than most private law schools in the region. The department keeps its own library; students should note that, by its own page, it has no campus placement cell.
