About Bharathiar University
Bharathiar University is a Coimbatore university set up by the Tamil Nadu government in 1982, offering master’s, Ph.D. and a few UG programmes across science, arts, commerce and management.
Bharathiar University was established in February 1982 at Coimbatore under the Bharathiar University Act, 1981, by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Its campus departments run a wide range of M.Sc. programmes, from physics, chemistry and mathematics to data science, cyber security and biotechnology, along with M.A., M.Com., MBA, MCA, M.Ed. and MSW courses. Doctoral research is offered in more than thirty subjects. At UG level it lists B.P.Ed., B.Voc. courses and a B.Sc. offered with the University of Melbourne. The university reports a NAAC A++ grade and a rank of 46 in NIRF on its home page. Seats follow the Tamil Nadu reservation policy, and selection is on entrance test or UG marks.

Admission
Admission through: Merit, Entrance test
Candidates register online on the university admission portal, with a separate registration for each programme. The registration fee is ₹400 per application (₹200 for SC/ST). Selection is based on the entrance examination or on marks in the UG degree, and seats follow the Tamil Nadu reservation policy.

- Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
- Master of Science: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in the relevant subject; two-year M.Sc after a three-year bachelor's or one-year M.Sc after a four-year bachelor's; universities set their own marks
- Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
