Coimbatore Institute of Technology is an autonomous engineering institute in Coimbatore, started in 1956 and affiliated to Anna University, offering B.E., B.Tech, integrated M.Sc., M.E., MCA, MBA and Ph.D.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology was founded in 1956 by the V. Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust and has been autonomous since 1987, with affiliation to Anna University, Chennai. Its campus is on Civil Aerodrome Post in Coimbatore. Undergraduates can choose B.E. branches such as civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and computer science, or B.Tech courses in IT, AI and data science and chemical engineering. CIT is also known for five-year integrated M.Sc. courses in software systems, data science, decision and computing sciences and AI and machine learning. Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Merit, Lateral
The institute lists separate admission helplines for B.E./B.Tech and M.Sc. applicants, and diploma holders can join the part-time B.E. through DOTE notifications. MCA and MBA admissions for 2026-27 use application forms downloadable from the institute website, with admission dates announced on the PG admission page. M.E. needs a relevant B.E., and Ph.D. needs an M.E. or M.Tech in the field.

- Master of Technology: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Technology; At least 50% marks in UG; B.E./B.Tech in a relevant discipline; GATE score preferred
- Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
