IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s Department of Mathematics and Computing offers a B.Tech and an integrated M.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, an M.Sc, an M.Tech in Data Analytics and PhD.

The mathematics department at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has grown with the institute itself, which traces its roots to the Indian School of Mines founded in 1926. Today it runs a B.Tech and an integrated M.Tech in Mathematics and Computing for JEE entrants, an M.Sc in Mathematics and Computing for science graduates, and an M.Tech in Data Analytics. PhD scholars work in mathematics and statistics. The programmes combine pure and applied mathematics with computing subjects such as algorithms, data analysis and programming. The department is on the main campus in Dhanbad, and B.Tech admissions go through the institute’s JEE-based admission route.
