IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s Department of Chemical Engineering, begun in 2010, has a sanctioned yearly intake of 55 for B.Tech and 50 for M.Tech, and also runs a PhD programme.

The chemical engineering department of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad started in 2010 and is one of the institute’s more recent engineering units. It offers a four-year B.Tech in Chemical Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 55 a year, a two-year M.Tech with an intake of 50, and a PhD programme. The department lists 17 faculty, more than 250 students in all, and over 600 research publications. B.Tech students come in through the IIT joint entrance route, while M.Tech and doctoral admissions are notified by the institute. Being part of a mining and energy focused institute, it sits alongside departments such as petroleum and fuel engineering in Dhanbad.
