Civil Engineering at NIT Tiruchirappalli has taught a B.Tech since 1964 and now offers five M.Tech specialisations, MS (by Research) and a PhD programme running since 1974.

The Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Tiruchirappalli began with a B.Tech in 1964, in the institute’s early Regional Engineering College years. Postgraduate teaching grew over the decades: Transportation Engineering and Management started in 1974, Structural Engineering in 1986, Environmental Engineering in 2006, Construction Technology and Management in 2014, and Geotechnical Engineering in 2020. The PhD programme has run since 1974 and an MS (by Research) since 2006. Students apply through central counselling for the B.Tech and through institute notices for postgraduate and research seats.

Admission

Admission through: Entrance test, Interview

B.Tech in Civil Engineering is offered through JEE Main and JoSAA/CSAB counselling. Candidates for the five M.Tech specialisations apply through the NIT Tiruchirappalli postgraduate admission notice, normally with GATE scores. MS (by Research) and PhD admission is announced by the institute and includes a test or interview.

Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
