The School of Physical Sciences at IIT Mandi runs the B.Tech in Engineering Physics, an M.Sc in Physics, an integrated PhD and a PhD in physics, with 19 faculty members on the Kamand campus.
The School of Physical Sciences (SPS) is the physics school of IIT Mandi, a central government institute at Kamand in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. It teaches the eight-semester B.Tech in Engineering Physics, which mixes core physics such as quantum mechanics and condensed matter with engineering and mathematics. For graduates it offers a two-year M.Sc in Physics (started in 2017), an integrated PhD that awards an M.Sc and a PhD, a route to upgrade from M.Sc to PhD, and a regular PhD. Research spans atoms and molecules, soft and condensed matter, particle physics and black holes, supported by experimental and high-performance computing labs. It suits students aiming for research, quantum technology or semiconductor careers.
