About Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology
VSSUT Burla, which began as University College of Engineering in 1956, is a state technical university near Sambalpur offering B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, MCA, M.Sc and PhD.
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology started on 12 August 1956 as University College of Engineering, Burla, one of Odisha’s oldest engineering colleges. Under Odisha Act 9 of 2009 it became a unitary state university from 1 July 2009, and it is recognised by UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). The campus at Siddhi Vihar, Burla, in Sambalpur district, runs a four-year B.Tech in about ten branches, a five-year B.Arch, dual degree B.Tech plus M.Tech options, M.Tech in many specialisations, a three-year MCA, M.Sc and integrated M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and PhD in twelve disciplines. B.Tech admission is through JEE (Main) ranks and OJEE counselling.

Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Lateral
B.Tech seats are filled on the JEE (Main) all-India rank through Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) counselling, and B.Tech lateral entry and MCA seats use the OJEE rank. The integrated M.Sc uses an entrance test run by VSSUT, while other master's and PhD admissions are made by the university itself through its own notices.

- Master of Computer Applications: Studying in: UG; At least 50% marks in UG; BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT) or equivalent
- Master of Science: Studying in: UG; bachelor's degree in the relevant subject; two-year M.Sc after a three-year bachelor's or one-year M.Sc after a four-year bachelor's; universities set their own marks
- Master of Technology: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Technology; At least 50% marks in UG; B.E./B.Tech in a relevant discipline; GATE score preferred
- Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
