About Faculty of Architecture and Planning, AKTU
The Faculty of Architecture and Planning (FOAP) near Hazratganj, Lucknow, is the architecture faculty of AKTU, tracing its roots to 1911 and teaching B.Arch, M.Arch, M.Planning and PhD.
The Faculty of Architecture and Planning grew out of the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Lucknow, where architecture teaching began in 1911. It became a separate Government School of Architecture in 1976 and the Government College of Architecture in 1980, and since the 2000-01 session it has been a constituent faculty of the state technical university, AKTU. The six-acre campus on Tagore Marg near Hazratganj runs the five-year B.Arch along with master’s courses in architecture (general, environmental design and interior design) and in planning (urban and regional, and infrastructure planning and management). It also guides PhD scholars. Fee notices for the 2026-27 session are published for each programme.

Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Merit
B.Arch seats are filled through the state admission portal (uptac.samarth.edu.in) run for Uttar Pradesh technical courses, based on the entrance score and merit. For M.Arch and M.Planning, candidates register online on the faculty admission portal, and separate lists of selected GATE and non-GATE candidates are published. Selected students pay the session fee shown in the faculty fee notice and report with documents.

- Master of Architecture: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Architecture; At least 50% marks in UG; B.Arch or equivalent; reservation relaxations as per Central or State Government policy
- Master of Planning: Studying in: UG; B.Plan, B.Arch or B.E./B.Tech (Civil or Planning); SPA Vijayawada asks 60% or CGPA 6.5 (55% or 6.0 for SC/ST)
- Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
