The Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, dating from 1977, runs an MBA, an MBA in Business Analytics, an M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management, and PhD.

This department of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad began in 1977 as the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management and started its MBA in 1997. It now offers a regular MBA, an MBA in Business Analytics launched in 2020, an M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management, an Executive MBA and doctoral research in management and industrial engineering. B.Tech students of the institute can also take a minor in management or a dual degree that adds an MBA. For the 2026 MBA intake, online applications ran from 24 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, followed by personal interviews in February and March 2026.

MBA candidates apply online on the institute's MBA admission page; for 2026 the window was 24 December 2025 to 31 January 2026. Shortlisted candidates are called for personal interviews, and results come out as merit and waiting lists. M.Tech and PhD admissions run through the institute's own admission portals.
