The ECE department of Andhra University College of Engineering in Visakhapatnam offers B.Tech ECE, three M.Tech specialisations and doctoral research.

Electronics and Communication Engineering at Andhra University became a separate department in 1983 after it was split from Electrical Engineering. It runs a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, including an integrated option, and M.Tech programmes in Electronic Instrumentation, Radar and Microwave Engineering and VLSI. Research scholars can pursue a PhD in the department. Its laboratories cover analog and digital communication, microprocessors, VHDL simulation, fibre optics and microwaves, and the department has an IEEE student chapter and links with IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and defence labs such as NSTL and LRDE.

Admission

Admission through: Entrance test

Admission to the B.Tech programme is through the AP EAPCET (EAMCET) rank and state counselling, while Andhra University also runs AUEET for self-supported B.Tech seats. M.Tech seats go to GATE holders first and then by AUCET or AU entrance rank, and MCA admission is through AP ICET. PhD admission follows the Andhra University research admission notification issued by the Directorate of Admissions.

Bachelor of Technology: Studying in: Class 12; Must have studied: Physics; Must have studied: Mathematics; At least 45% marks in Class 12; one more subject from the AICTE list (e.g. Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology)
Master of Technology: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Technology; At least 50% marks in UG; B.E./B.Tech in a relevant discipline; GATE score preferred
Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
