Assam Engineering College is one of the oldest engineering colleges in the North-East, established in 1955 by the Government of Assam. Its campus is at Jalukbari in western Guwahati, close to Gauhati University, to which it is affiliated. The college runs B.Tech through departments of Chemical, Civil, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Industrial and Production, Instrumentation and Mechanical Engineering. It also has a Computer Applications department and offers M.Tech and PhD programmes.
