About Indian Institute of Technology Jammu
IIT Jammu is one of the newer Indian Institutes of Technology, set up in 2016 and now working from its campus at Jagti near Nagrota on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, with B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD programmes.
The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu began in 2016 as one of the third-generation IITs and is an Institute of National Importance run by the central government. Its permanent campus is at Jagti, off NH-44 near Nagrota, about 20 km from Jammu city. Undergraduates join B.Tech branches such as computer science, electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, materials, engineering physics and mathematics and computing through JEE Advanced. Postgraduate students take M.Tech courses through GATE and M.Sc in physics and chemistry through IIT JAM, while every department guides PhD research. The institute was placed 56th in the NIRF 2025 engineering list. Students live in on-campus hostels with a library, labs, sports grounds and a health centre.

Admission
Admission through: Entrance test, Interview
B.Tech seats are filled through JEE Advanced ranks and JoSAA counselling. M.Tech admission uses GATE scores with COAP or CCMT counselling, and M.Sc admission is through IIT JAM. PhD applicants need a qualifying score such as GATE or UGC/CSIR NET and are shortlisted for a written test or interview.

- Master of Technology: Studying in: UG; Enrolled in: Bachelor of Technology; At least 50% marks in UG; B.E./B.Tech in a relevant discipline; GATE score preferred
- Doctor of Philosophy: Studying in: PG; At least 55% marks in PG
